I heart Scribd! What a handy way to offer you things like my general curriculum description, and a list that is more for me to organize my thinking, but which is basically a list of everything I want to teach them over the 6 years I have them.
Also on Scribd is a sheet I did for parents/visitors that outlines the curriculum a little more specifically, but what it doesn't show is how or why the curriculum is the way it is. That happened very organically. Like, for example, the reason I do digital image editing in 3rd grade now (new this year) is that they study non-fiction, which leads us to internet research, which leads us to evaluating websites for reliability, which leads to the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus, which leads to making our own tree octopi in Photoshop. It turned out that this sort of made sense b/c Photoshop is, in many ways, a natural next step from Kidpix, but this is probably not the best way to develop a curriculum.
